Class B Auto Mechanic
Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled Class B Auto Mechanic to diagnose, maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, translating issues to customers in simplified jargon and repairing the vehicles. In addition to handling the apparent issues, you will be responsible for identifying any other apparent issues that may cause a customer to return.
We are looking for a well-rounded individual who will be able to speak with customer, identify issues in addition to the repairs. An excellent auto mechanic has good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. They are well-versed in complex mechanical and some electrical systems of vehicles and have excellent problem-solving abilities. They must also be good communicators to provide advice to customers.
Key Responsibilities:

Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately

Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade

Perform thorough NYS inspections

Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity

Schedule future maintenance sessions and advise motorists on good vehicle use

Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues

Provide accurate estimates (time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job

Keep logs on work and issues

Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
Requirements:

Proven experience as auto mechanic

Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles and willingness to improve and learn

Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods

Ability to handle various tools, heavy equipment and be able to regularly lift 80lbs

Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.

High school diploma is required; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred or adequate experience

Must possess their own basic tools for repairing and diagnosing vehicles

New York State Inspectors license and valid drivers license
